MARLON BRANDO, POCCAHANTAS AND ME

CHAD,
I feel GUILTY for not posting (*articulate and inspiring) blogs EVERY DAY. I also feel guilty for eating pizza instead of exercising, reading magazines instead of literature, watching TV instead of doing yoga….

And a slew of other things I do in place of things I should be doing.

My method for COPING with this guilt is to smoke a lot of weed, drink a lot of wine, watch a lot of movies and PRETEND LIKE EVERYTHING IS OKAY….you should try it. I won't judge.

SPEAKING OF MOVIES:

Most people have heard my verbal review of this film (during my hiatus) but everyone MUST see:

The New World

Terrence Malick has (again) created a genius, poetic, insightful, raw comment on nature and rules and hierarchy and humans and love. It’s wonderfully disturbing and I highly recommend it. Here is a link to my favorite reviewer, Mick LaSalle from the San Francisco Chronicle, who with this review, has redeemed himself from giving Shopgirl a 10.

IN MUSIC NEWS: I just bought (I always bloom, but I’m usually late) an album released last year by a hip-hop British/Sri Lankan named Maya aka M.I.A. It’s really great, very catchy, edgy…childlike. The lyrics are simple but instead of talking about big boobs and cars, she talks about war and cell phones!

In other news, my friend Sara Moen is part of a Seaplane fashion show on Thursday at Disjecta. She’s a sweet, talented girl and anyone who is interest should come watch the hipster gluttony… I think I’ve updated everyone sufficiently. http://www.urbanhonking.com/seaplane/

As far as my thoughts go, I’ve been stifled by the capitalistic work machine soon to be over the end of this month.

Concluding I would like to say three simple words:

LET’S GO CAMPING

ttfn,

Alicia
