is there anybody out there....

so I'm stealing one of melinda's pics (although, I don't know who actually took it) because I've been too lazy to bring my hard drive to school and we don't have internet at home...blah blah...

OMG! I am so lame. and not just for using the term OMG. although, I'm old and can get away with being lame. or male. or ealm....

to update you all on the prumley family return to the great north woods, there's really nothing exciting to say. our friends s&b who we convinced to move to portland are now moving to berlin, germany. really, who can blame them. plus, portland is overrun with hipsters as it is so maybe it's a good thing. anyway, this means no cheap road trip and therefor less incentive to be RASH and move across the country this summer. as for S-man, ODOT is taking their sweet time, but hopefully we'll let everyone know about that this weekend. S also applied for some other planning-ish jobbies, but we're worried about timing more than anything. coming home with no money and no job would be bad. people wouldn't want us around because we would be whiny and too poor to contribute. plus, being poor just isn't cool when you're old and fat and like to drink a lot.

In other news, all I've been doing lately is working and watching movies. some have been good movies and a few bad ones (both of which were picked out by s who is now on movie picking out probation ie. "Taladega Nights" and "29 Palms", bad bad bad)

so lately I've been watching French movies with that chick from I heart huckabees, Isabelle Huppert. One is called the Pianiste, La (The Piano Teacher)

*here's a review from my favorite film critic Mick LaSalle: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2002/05/03/DD130641.DTL&type=movies

and one is called Ma Mere (My Mother). (here is one instance I disagree with Mick who give the movie a bad review, although the review isn't scathing and he has some good points. love you Mick)

both of these movies are sexually disturbing but in a good, cinematic, fascinating way. none of the "issues" are necessarily NEW, but somehow Isabelle Huppert is able to be so fucking weird and light and naughty that it makes them worth watching. Mick is probably right, The Piano Teacher is better, but Ma Mere deserves a watch because it's disturbing as fuck.

BTW: "Wild Strawberries" proves that swedish people are boring. paradise is boring. it doesn't make sense but it's true. hawaii is boring. socialism is boring.

boring boring boring.

...and Goerge Lucas made it impossible for our generation to watch boring Swedish movies, right Seth?

Another goodie is http://www.quadrophenia.net/. A great movie (made by The Who, which really IS such a great name for band) about the mod movement in London. One might think this is just a way for The Who to wank off, but it's actually really good, although you'll notice that when the main character tears his posters off the wall, he leaves The Who posters in tact. coincidence?

in other news for you wire watchers, Seth and I saw McNulty in the Wine Source last Friday. I stalked him. he bought three bottles of wine and a case of heineken.

yummy.

I'm stopping.
