PRELUDE TO WEEKEND OF DEBAUCHERY RE-CAP + the Chinese - PART 1

Hi Chad.

Because I continued my weekend of debauchery from Friday night with the Smoothies, Sat. with Kathleen, Pat, and Lynarra for daytime bloody mary's, Sat. night with the birthday clan, and Sunday with the Mocheesmos - I was unable to download all of the wonderful communal photos from Melinda's birthday beer fest as I had hoped. I will post them tomorrow in various locations for you and anyone else who's interested in re-living the past....in other words: stay tuned cuz it only get's better! and better is all there is...right Chad?

In addendum: The beautiful and talented Kathleen told some funny stories over bloody mary's on Sat... however, the one that in my sobered but forever childish state still makes me chuckle is regarding 1 quart of owl shit on her white linen shirt. this one is for you Kathleen...

For now: here is the "can you be more specific" photo of the day

This photo is titled "all lined up", in homage to the Mountain Goats song "Idylls Of The King ". Speaking of the Mountain Goats, they're playing at the Doug Fir on June 10th. I just got my tickets in the mail this weekend. It should be a great show, especially when he sings this song:

dilaudid

the reception's gotten fuzzy.
the delicate balance has shifted.
put on your gloves and your black pumps.
let's pretend the fog has lifted.

now you see me.
now you don't.
now you say you love me.
pretty soon you won't.

if we get our full threescore and ten,
we won't pass this way again.
so kiss me with your mouth open.
turn the tires toward the street
and stay sweet.

all the chickens come on home to roost.
plump bodies blotting out the sky.
you know it breaks my heart in half, in half, when I see them trying to fly.

'cause you just can't do things your body wasn't meant to.
hike up your fishnets.
I know you.

if we live to see the other side of this, I will remember your kiss.
so do it with your mouth open.
and take your foot off of the brake
for christ's sake.

I would also like to mention that the photo on their website http://www.themountaingoats.net/ is subtly hilarious. As well, the website itself is cool and minimal and very USER FRIENDLY, unfortunately something people don't pay attention to anymore.

Because, as you know Chad, I'm a traditionalist, here is the my new:

NETFLIX AT HOME movies update:

Da Ali G Show: Season 1: Disc 2

This shit is funny. Everyone should watch it. He's a mean mad genius and is super good and creating uncomfortable juxtapositions that make me laugh and laugh...

We haven't watched "The Getaway" (with dreamy Steve McQueen) yet, but I'll let you know how it ends when we do.

In Art news, I saw a big arty book called "Mahjong: Contemporary Chinese Art from the Sigg Collection" at Powells bookstore on Hawthone a few weeks ago. EVERYONE who likes the Chinese and likes Art should look at this book. It's really superb and fucked up and inspiring. There are really weird threads throughout it like pigs and Mao and menstrual blood and distorted babies. not to mention the canvas jacket with the nude woman painted on the inside. so RADICAL.

In continuation with the Chinese theme: here is a fairly comprehensive website with several beautifully insane images by various Chinese artists:

New addition alert:

The PDX location of the day (which can be anything from my bedroom, to a bar, to a bench at Laurelhurst park) is:

Bar Pastiche on 47th and hawthorne. This is a great little bar. very European. very saturday afternoon beer buzz and small plate of fava bean salad with tuna and roasted peppers. yum.

I'm going to change my statement about ending my blogs with kids and pets to kids and/or pets. Frankly, I don't know enough kids and control-copying pictures of kids from the net is a little weird, but here is one kid I do know. I blew this picture out in photoshop...some think it cute....some a little creepy.
