The Fall

Last night Seth made me watch "The Fall". While I was in New York a few months ago, Seth decided to go get drunk and watch movies at our local theater/pub Laurelhurst and has been obsessing about me seeing them so he can talk to me about them (the other was "Mongol"). The Fall came at a perfect time for me, which is funny because I resisted it for so long, trading it for online versions of crappy TV shows like Top Chef and Dollhouse becuase I wanted to escape, but ultimately this movie was/is the perfect form of escapism. The magical imagery is unlike anything I've ever seen. A fantastical, Gilliam-esque reflection on heroism, hope, and revenge. The film mixes travel, art, fantasy and treads the line between quirk and despair, pulling the viewer in and out of realism and the imagined. I wanted to immediately be in every dream-like location; which the filming of, apparently held up the movie for years. Anywho, I reccomend.

Lianne really liked this movie as well and wanted me to see it. I've been wanting to check it out but haven't made the time for it. I'll have to before we go the Alemania.
